Michel Plasson
Michel Plasson is a renowned French conductor. He graduated from the Toulouse Conservatory in 1970, where he studied violin and chamber music.
Early Career
Plasson spent three years as a violinist in the orchestra of the Toulouse Capitole Opera House before gradually shifting his focus to conducting. In 1976, he won the Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors.
Orchestral Positions
Following his competition victory, Plasson became the permanent conductor of the National Orchestra of Aquitaine and the National Orchestra of the Loire Region. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the National Orchestra of the Basque Country in the early 1980s.
Academic Career
Plasson has been a professor at the Lyon Conservatory since 1983. He is known for his pedagogical skills and his ability to inspire young musicians.
Recordings
Among Plasson's notable recordings is Benjamin Britten's children's opera, "The Little Sweep," recorded in 1979. This recording has received critical acclaim for its warmth and charm.
