American screenwriter, producer, and director Paul Brown is known for his work on popular television series such as "The X-Files," "The Twilight Zone," "Quantum Leap," "Star Trek," and "Mercy Street." Brown visited Moscow at the end of last year and expressed his regret that many Russian directors imitate Western styles, resulting in "second-rate" films.

When asked if the cold and gloomy Moscow scared him as a California resident, Brown replied that he has visited Russia seven times and noticed that those who live there tend to focus only on the dark side of life and bad weather. He mentioned that after Moscow, he would be traveling to Colombia where there is plenty of sunshine, making it easier for him to cope with Moscow's inclement weather. Brown criticized directors who follow trends without having anything meaningful to say in their films, likening them to zombies. He mentioned that the era of zombie themes has passed in the West, and now there is a period of enlightenment and exploration. Brown expressed his disappointment that Russian directors imitate Western filmmakers and "steal" their ideas, turning themselves into zombies.
