Biography of Paul Clement

English football coach Paul Clement is the son of successful football players, and although he did not have much luck on the field himself, he became a highly successful coach.

Paul Clement

Early Life

Paul Clement was born into a football family, with his father Dave Clement having played for Queen's Park Rangers and the English national team. His brother Neil Clement also played for West Bromwich Albion. However, Paul's playing career did not pan out, and he realized at the age of 23 that he would not become a professional player. He decided to shift his focus to coaching and started working at the Chelsea sports center while also teaching physical education.

Coaching Career

Paul Clement obtained his UEFA class 'A' coaching license in 1999 and became a fully-fledged football coach in 2000 when he was hired by Fulham. He also worked with the Irish national under-21 team alongside Don Givens. After a brief stint at Blackburn Rovers, Clement returned to Chelsea, initially working with the youth team. He gradually climbed the coaching ladder and started working with the first team when Guus Hiddink became the manager. He continued in this role when Carlo Ancelotti took over.

Success at Real Madrid

Clement's time at Chelsea proved valuable as he gained experience, built a good reputation, and developed a strong partnership with Carlo Ancelotti. After a short spell at Blackburn Rovers, Clement reunited with Ancelotti at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013. They then moved to Real Madrid, where Ancelotti became the head coach and Clement became his assistant. Together, they led the team to victory in the UEFA Champions League.

Current Work and Achievements

Paul Clement recently joined the team at RTE Sport, where he and his colleagues had the opportunity to analyze the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. His career progression has earned him respect from his colleagues, as he has quickly established himself as a talented coach, working with several prestigious teams and gaining international recognition. Despite not finding success as a player like his father and brother, Paul Clement has become a respected figure in the football world, compensating for his past failures on the field with his achievements as a coach.
