Giuseppe Iachini: Italian Football Manager
Early Career and Sampdoria SuccessGiuseppe Iachini is an Italian football manager who has made a notable impact in the Italian football scene. He rose to prominence in 2011 when he was appointed as the head coach of Sampdoria, replacing Gianluca Atzori. Iachini signed a contract that extended until the end of the season, with the possibility of renewal if the team secured promotion to Serie A.
Under Iachini's leadership, Sampdoria made a strong push towards promotion. They debuted with a 1:1 draw against Bari. The team's consistent performances earned them a sixth-place finish, which allowed them to qualify for the Serie A promotion playoffs. After overcoming Sassuolo and Varese in the playoffs, Sampdoria became the third team to secure promotion to the top-flight division, following Torino and Pescara.
Coaching Stints at Siena, Udinese, and Sassuolo
In December 2012, Iachini moved to Siena as their new head coach, succeeding Serse Cosmi. He held this position until May 2016 when he was appointed as the head coach of Udinese. Iachini signed a two-year contract with Udinese, but his tenure was short-lived. After a 0:3 home defeat against Lazio in the 2016/17 Serie A, Iachini was dismissed from his role.
Later, in November 2017, Sassuolo appointed Iachini as their head coach. He held this position until November 2018 when he joined Empoli.
Empoli and Departure
Iachini's time at Empoli was brief. After a disappointing defeat against Roma in March 2019, Empoli announced Iachini's resignation.
Return to Florence and Fiorentina
In December 2019, Iachini returned to Florence as the head coach of Fiorentina. He signed a contract until June 2021, hoping to reshape the fortunes of the historic Tuscan club.
