Paula Creamer, the only child of a pilot and a homemaker, was born on August 5, 1986, in Mountain View, California. In her childhood, Creamer practiced acrobatic dancing and gymnastics, but at the age of 10, she started playing golf. At the age of 12, she won 13 regional junior tournaments in Northern California, and the following year, she topped the list of female golfers in the state of California. During her amateur career, Creamer won 19 national tournaments, including 11 tournaments of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). In 2003, she was named the AJGA Player of the Year. Creamer represented the United States in the Junior Solheim Cup in 2002 and 2003. She reached the semifinals of the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship and the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in 2003 and repeated her success the following year.
