Childhood and Youth
Pavel Artemyevich Artemyev was born in the Czechoslovakian city of Olomouc in February 1983. His family consists of his mother, writer Galina Artemyeva, his father Artem Artemyev, a military doctor, his brother Zakhar, and his sister Olga. After his parents' divorce, his mother remarried. Pavel grew up in a creative atmosphere but chose to pursue music instead of following in his mother's footsteps as a writer. His brother became a journalist, and his sister became a poet. Pavel was influenced by his stepfather, Konstantin Lifshitz, a renowned pianist. He wrote his first song at the age of 13. During the period when his family lived in Italy, Pavel Artemyev graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Como, where he learned to play the trombone. He also worked as a model and participated in Vivienne Westwood fashion shows. In college, Pavel became interested in Japanese literature and studied at the Moscow Institute of Asian and African Studies. Music
Pavel Artemyev's music career began in his youth with his participation in the project "Fabrika Zvezd" (Star Factory). In 2002, he passed the casting and appeared on television screens, gaining recognition as a singer. It was during this time that the country learned about him as a vocalist. His popularity grew with the song "Ponimayesh" (You Understand), which he performed as a duet with Irina Toneva, who later became a soloist of the group "Fabrika". During the project, the group "Korni" was formed, and Artemyev became one of its vocalists. The other members were Alexey Kabanov, Alexander Berdnikov, and Alexander Astashenok. The group recorded an album called "Na Veka" (For Eternity) in 2003, as well as solo albums by the group members, which were released under the name "Dnevniki" (Diaries) in 2005. "Korni" also recorded several soundtracks for TV series, and in the summer of 2010, the group disbanded. Artemyev claims that the group was an artificial producer-driven project rather than a collaboration of like-minded individuals. Despite this, they released one album, 16 singles, and 11 music videos. After the disbandment of "Korni," Pavel Artemyev began performing as a solo artist in Moscow clubs and debuted as a DJ in 2009. In 2010, he formed a new group called Artemiev, which performed lyrical rock music exclusively live. They released two singles, "Krugami" (In Circles) and "Symptom of Life," and gave their first solo concert in 2010. The group released another track called "Teatr Teney" (Shadow Theater) in 2013, followed by the release of their mini-album "Symptom of Life" in 2016. In 2017, they released their full-length album "Kanun Kontsa Nachala" (The Eve of the End of the Beginning). In 2018, they started working on their new album, "Sizigiya" (Syzygy), and released the first track "Ty Padayesh Vverkh" (You Fall Up) in December. Artemiev also ventured into teaching and became a teacher at Moscow Music School, where he leads the course on songwriting and music performance.
