Biography of Pedro Alonso Lopez

Early Life

Pedro Alonso Lopez was born in Santa Isabel, Tolima, Colombia, in 1948. His childhood was far from idyllic, with a mother who worked as a prostitute and a total of 13 siblings. At the age of eight, Pedro engaged in his first sexual encounters, including with his own sister. Later, he fell victim to a pedophile who imprisoned and sexually abused him, often with the participation of others. Seeking revenge, Pedro returned to the house with friends and skinned the elderly pedophile, as well as some of his friends. Despite committing multiple murders, Pedro received only an eight-year sentence due to his troubled upbringing.

Imprisonment

Life in prison was not easy for Pedro. He was repeatedly raped by a fellow inmate, but he retaliated by killing three of his abusers, putting an end to further assaults. It is unclear whether Pedro was able to intimidate other inmates or not, but what is known is that he emerged from prison filled with anger towards women, rather than men. He moved to Peru and began his horrific spree of hunting and killing young peasant girls. He would often rape them before murdering them and burying their bodies in the same location, making it easier for investigators to link the crimes.

Capture and Confession

Pedro was finally arrested in 1980 after one of his victims managed to escape and report him to the police. In custody, Pedro proudly confessed to his crimes, claiming to have killed around 300 "whores." His statements were met with skepticism, but as he provided more and more details, including the location of his burial sites, investigators discovered the remains of over 50 victims. Pedro became known as the "Monster of the Andes" and took pride in his notoriety. Despite his limited literacy skills, he eagerly granted interviews and even developed a theory behind his killings, blaming his victims for the shortcomings of his mother and his own experiences.

Sentencing and Controversy

Pedro received the maximum sentence of 20 years in Peru. The subsequent information about his fate is conflicting. Some sources claim that he was extradited to Ecuador, where he faced additional charges and the possibility of the death penalty. It is rumored that he was executed by firing squad. However, there are persistent rumors in Latin America that Pedro was secretly released in the late 1990s and continues to kill. According to different theories, he may still be active in Ecuador or even in the United States. The true fate of Pedro Alonso Lopez remains uncertain.
