Alberto Martin Marrero, nicknamed "El Mago" ("The Magician"), was born on April 7, 1988, in Barcelona, Spain. His father, Pedro Ramon Riba Camarasa, worked for the Barcelona-based TV channel TV3, while his mother, Maria Rosa Madrid Roca, dedicated herself to homemaking. Alberto has a brother named Merce.

Alberto embarked on a remarkable professional tennis career, competing in both singles and doubles at the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP World Tour.
