Early Life and Education

Perrie Louise Edwards was born in South Shields, England, on July 10, 1993. Her parents, Alexander Edwards and Debbie Duffy, were both singers, but divorced shortly after her birth. Perrie inherited her musical talent from both sides of her family.

As a child, Perrie attended several schools, including Radipole Primary School in Weymouth, St. Peter's and Paul's Primary School, and Mortimer Community College in South Shields. She later earned a degree in performing arts from Newcastle College. It's unclear if this formal training directly influenced her music career, but it certainly didn't hinder it. After college, Perrie spent two years living in Hamilton, New Zealand, which she has fondly recalled as a special place.

Personal Life

Perrie Edwards has faced both joy and heartbreak in her personal life. She began dating singer Zayn Malik of One Direction in May 2012. They got engaged in August 2013 and appeared to be very much in love. However, in 2015, the couple split due to Malik's alleged drug addiction and rumors of infidelity with model Gigi Hadid.

The breakup devastated Perrie, who famously recorded the vengeful song "Shout Out to My Ex." She found solace in her friends and family, but eventually had to leave her home and spent a year and a half living in her mother's guest house.

In February 2017, Edwards confirmed her relationship with Arsenal footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. They have since become a long-term couple, and Perrie has vowed to keep her love life out of her music.

Music Career

X Factor and Little Mix

Perrie Edwards initially auditioned for the eighth season of The X Factor UK as a solo artist. However, producers decided to group her with Jesy Nelson in a duo called Faux Pas. They were later merged with another duo, Orion, to form Little Mix with Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.

Little Mix won The X Factor in December 2011 and signed a record deal. They embarked on a tour and released their debut album, DNA, in 2012. The album reached number four on the Billboard chart, becoming the highest-charting debut album by a British girl group at the time. The single "Wings" was released on August 26, 2012, and topped the charts in the UK and Ireland.

Little Mix continued to release successful albums with Salute (2013), Get Weird (2015), and Glory Days (2016). They have sold over 60 million records to date, making them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time.

Personal Growth and Social Media

In June 2018, Perrie Edwards responded to fan questions about posing for photos by posting a picture of herself by a pool, leaning on her arms and with one leg bent at the knee. She has also embraced her natural beauty by posting photos without makeup, which she was initially self-conscious about. Her followers have praised her for her honesty and confidence.

Recent Developments

In February 2020, Perrie Edwards became the first female ambassador for Supreme Nutrition, a company that produces protein supplements, energy snacks, and wellness formulas.

Little Mix released the song "Break Up Song" in March 2020, which was intended as the lead single from their sixth album. However, the release of the album was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edwards has stated that their new material breaks from the typical girl band formula of each vocalist singing the same parts. They have experimented more, giving each member freedom to sing what they want, and they are excited about this new chapter in their career.
