The Blind Photographer
Pete Eckert is a blind photographer who has shattered all expectations by capturing stunning images despite his visual impairment. He began his photography journey after losing his sight completely, which makes his talent even more remarkable.

A Fighter's Journey
When Pete Eckert first learned that his eyesight was deteriorating and he would soon go blind, he felt anger and fear. He was worried about his ability to earn a living and the impact this would have on his future plans with his fiancée. However, he decided to make the most of his remaining sight and pursued an education in sculpture, design, and martial arts.

By the time darkness engulfed his world, Eckert had already earned a black belt in taekwondo and had a degree in the arts. He excelled in martial arts to the point where he became a trainer, although many of his students and sparring partners initially doubted the abilities of a blind individual. However, Eckert's skill and determination soon silenced their skepticism, leaving them in awe of his fighting prowess.
A Unique Perspective
Despite his initial concerns, Pete Eckert's fiancée, Amy, stood by his side and they got married. They also welcomed a faithful companion into their lives, a dog named Uzu. Relying on his instincts, Eckert continued to live a fulfilling life. He discovered that he could "see" in a different way, perceiving an inner energy emanating from people, even if he couldn't physically see them.
Using an infrared mode, Eckert began capturing his unique vision on film and embarked on a new career as a photographer. Surprisingly, people found the inner vision of a blind photographer intriguing, and his photographs quickly gained popularity.
A Resilient Journey
Over time, Eckert's body of work grew to the point where he could hold exhibitions, and many individuals sought to own his original prints for their collections. Uzu, his loyal dog, remained by his side, and once even protected him from attackers who saw the blind photographer as an easy target.
Eckert creates his works by relying on light, his sensations, and the inner energy emanating from objects. He describes himself as a "different kind of seeing person." Those who have witnessed Eckert's works refuse to believe that they were created by a blind photographer, but nonetheless, that is the truth.
He continues to live with his wife, Amy, and their enduring relationship has lasted for over two decades. Eckert is incredibly grateful for her support throughout his journey.
Looking back, Pete Eckert acknowledges that his rise was not easy. He endured painful searches, setbacks, and numerous disappointments. However, he ultimately found himself and was able to make a name for himself in the world.
