Peter Dumbreck
Peter Dumbreck is a Scottish race car driver who has had a successful career in various racing series around the world.
Early Successes
Dumbreck began his racing career in the Vauxhall Junior Formula championship in 1994, where he dominated the series. He continued his success in 1996, winning 10 races and claiming the Vauxhall Formula championship title.
Formula 3 Triumphs
In 1998, Dumbreck moved to the Japanese Formula 3 series, where he broke a record by winning eight out of ten races and claiming the championship. His victory at the Macau Grand Prix that same year further solidified his status as a rising star in the racing world.
Le Mans Horror and Survival
In 1999, Dumbreck gained international recognition when he miraculously survived a high-speed crash during the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. His Mercedes-Benz CLR flipped at approximately 300 km/h, causing a similar crash for his teammate Mark Webber. As a result, the entire Mercedes team withdrew from the race and subsequent endurance events.
DTM and Super GT Achievements
From 2000 to 2002, Dumbreck competed in the DTM touring car championship with Mercedes-Benz. His best result was a third-place finish in the 2001 season. He then switched to Opel for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In his DTM career, Dumbreck competed in 54 races and earned one victory.
In 2005, Dumbreck returned to the Japanese Super GT series, driving for Toyota (later Lexus). He achieved his first victory with Lexus on May 4, 2006.
