Peter Eastgate is a Danish professional poker player and the winner of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. He grew up in Dalum, a suburb of Odense, Denmark, and attended Sct. Canute's Gymnasium, where he first learned to play poker from his classmates. Initially, Peter played online, but later decided to try his luck in live tournaments.

Early Success and World Series of Poker Win

Starting in 2007, Peter quickly established himself as a promising young player. However, it was in 2008 that his career took a major turn. While playing online, Peter won a seat to the World Series of Poker Main Event, where he eventually made it to the final table. At that time, he became the youngest player ever to win the Main Event, although his record was soon broken the following year. Peter's victory also came with a record-breaking prize of $9,152,416.

Philanthropic Endeavors and Retirement

Following his remarkable win, Peter moved to England and, together with his brother, became actively involved in charitable projects. His dream was to unite all charitable organizations into one. As of 2010, Peter's total live tournament winnings amounted to $10,900,000. In the summer of 2010, he announced his retirement from poker, stating that it was just a stepping stone towards a more significant goal in life. As proof of his intentions, Peter put his World Series of Poker champion bracelet up for sale. The starting price on eBay was $16,000, and it eventually sold for $147,500. According to Peter, all the money from the sale was meant for UNICEF.

Return to Poker

However, as expected, Peter's break from the game did not last long, and less than a year later, he announced his comeback to the world of poker.
