Phillip Mexes is a French footballer who currently plays as a defender for Italian club AC Milan. Born on March 30, 1982, in Toulouse, France, Mexes began his football career at the club Toulouse. At the age of sixteen, he joined the youth team of Auxerre.

Debut with Auxerre and International Career
Mexes made his debut for the senior team of Auxerre on November 10, 1999, in a match against Troyes. His talent as a young defender quickly became evident, and he received call-ups to the French youth national teams, representing his country in the under-18 and under-21 squads. In August 2002, Mexes earned his first call-up to the senior national team.
