Early Career and Rise to ProminencePablo Aimar is an Argentine football player who currently plays as an attacking midfielder for the Portuguese club, Benfica. He began his career at River Plate, joining the first team in the 1997/98 season, after turning down an opportunity to study medicine. Aimar quickly gained recognition as one of Argentina's most talented young footballers.

Success at Valencia
In 2001, Aimar made a move to Valencia for a transfer fee of €24 million. He lived up to the high expectations placed on him and helped the team win the Spanish championship in the 2001/2002 season.
