Childhood and EducationThe exact birthdate of Phoebe Campbell remains a mystery to both ardent fans and inquisitive journalists. However, it is speculated that she was born in the late 1990s in London, England. During her formative years, Campbell attended James Allen's Girls' School, where she discovered her passion for the stage. She showcased her exceptional talent as the scheming landlady Mrs. Meers in the musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie."
In 2012, Campbell joined the Young Pleasance and performed in several productions, including "Teachers," "Rites," "Alice Unhinged," and "#MyWay," at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her passion for theatre led her to co-found the theatre company Spies Like Us in 2017 alongside fellow Young Pleasance graduates.
After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Bristol, Campbell enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 2019. She also became a member of the National Youth Theatre.
Theatre Career
Campbell's association with Spies Like Us has resulted in acclaimed performances in a series of plays. She portrayed the lead female role in Arthur Miller's tragic masterpiece, "A View from the Bridge." In the company's debut production, "Our Man in Havana," Campbell showcased her versatility by embodying multiple characters, including an English spy. The production premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim, winning Theatre Weekly's "Best Fringe Debut" award. It also toured internationally, capturing audiences in Hong Kong.
The following year, Spies Like Us returned to the Fringe with their innovative adaptation of Büchner's "Woyzeck," which earned high praise from both Theatre Weekly and Voice Magazine. The production was also shortlisted for Broadway World's regional awards. In 2019, the company staged "Murder on the Dancefloor" at the New Diorama Theatre in London.
Campbell's stage credits also include performances in "Trash," "RENT," "Mack and Mabel," "Hamlet," "Antigone," and "The Gift" at RADA and UOB Theatre.
Film Career
Campbell's foray into film began in 2016 with brief appearances in the comedy series "Home from Home" and the fantasy movie "The Last Dragon Slayer." She credits her experiences in "Home from Home" for teaching her new techniques and approaches to naturalistic acting.
Subsequent film appearances include "Midsomer Murders," the short film "Heartlight," and the upcoming HBO series "House of the Dragon," a prequel to the popular "Game of Thrones." In "House of the Dragon," Campbell plays Rhaena Targaryen, the daughter of Prince Daemon and Lady Laena Velaryon.
