Polad Bulbul oglu is a Soviet and Azerbaijani pop singer, composer, and actor. He was born in 1945 in Baku, Azerbaijan, into a family of the great Azerbaijani singer, founder of Azerbaijani professional vocal art, musicologist, and professor Bulbul. Polad Bulbul oglu's creative and professional identity was shaped at the Uzeyir Hajibeyov Azerbaijan State Conservatoire in the composition class of the outstanding composer Kara Karayev.

Versatile Composer and Performer
Throughout his career, Polad Bulbul oglu has composed a wide range of works, including symphonic pieces, chamber instrumental music, musicals, vocal cycles, and music for films and plays. He achieved particular success with his songs, which were performed by both famous singers of the country and himself. He has also directed popular ensembles and toured extensively within the Soviet Union and more than 70 countries worldwide.

Pioneer of Azerbaijani Pop Music
Polad Bulbul oglu has created a distinct direction in Soviet pop music, blending contemporary rhythms and harmonies with vibrant national melodies. His unique style has served as an example for future generations of musicians. He has also starred in popular films and composed music for over 20 movies. Polad Bulbul oglu's participation in various music programs and TV shows has made him a top television star. In recognition of his contributions to Azerbaijani culture, he became the only representative of Azerbaijani culture to have a star on the "Star Square" in Moscow.

Accomplished Leader and Statesman
In addition to his musical achievements, Polad Bulbul oglu has held various leadership positions. He served as the director and artistic director of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic for several years, demonstrating his excellent organizational skills and deep knowledge of concert affairs. Since 1988, he has been the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. His dynamic activity in this position has earned him recognition and authority comparable to his success in the music industry. In 1995, Polad Bulbul oglu was elected as a member of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan.

Advocate for Turkic Culture
Polad Bulbul oglu's influential role extends beyond Azerbaijan. In 1994, he was elected as the General Director of the Turkic Council, an international organization dedicated to the development of Turkic culture and arts. The Turkic Council operates similarly to UNESCO and aims to play a unifying role within the Turkic-speaking region. Under the initiative of Polad Bulbul oglu and the Turkic Council, numerous books by Turkic literature classics, calendars, and magazines have been published, with plans for an encyclopedia dedicated to cultural and artistic monuments in the works.
Academic Achievements
Polad Bulbul oglu holds the title of Doctor of Arts from the National Academy of Creative Arts of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He is an honorary professor at the Azerbaijan University of Culture and Arts and a full member of the International Humanitarian Academy "Europe-Asia." In 2000, he was awarded the title of professor. Currently residing in Moscow, Bulbul oglu continues to engage in music. In January 2010, he released a new album titled "Bulbul Sang... Polad Bulbul oglu Sings," featuring Azerbaijani folk songs. The album, sponsored by the Palmali Group of Companies, includes fourteen popular songs, from "Khashkhan" (the Turkic name for Astrakhan) to "Chal-oina" ("Sing, Dance"). The songs were arranged by Polad Bulbul oglu and Siyavush Kerimi.
