The Origins of "Nadezhda"
In the fall of 1997, fate brought together Sergey Gofman and Dmitry Belousov at Tyumen State Oil and Gas University. They quickly discovered their shared love of music and their desire to create a band.
"Oy-Yo" and the Birth of "Destination"
Their first performance together, titled "Oy-Yo," was a rendition of a Chayf song with revised lyrics. Despite their lack of preparation, the duo received a warm reception and was motivated to pursue their musical journey.
The Debut of Shape of My Heart
In 1998, Alexander Pavlov (Petrovich) and Artem Glazkov joined the group for an attempt to perform Sting's "Shape of My Heart." While the performance never materialized, it marked the expansion of the band's lineup.
The First Official Rehearsal and the Choice of "Destination"
Gofman's impromptu visit to Pavlov with his guitar led to the creation of the band's first song, "Tem, kto..." The official rehearsal took place on January 26, 1999, and this date is considered the birthdate of "Destination."
The Creative Peak and the Acquisition of Drums
The band's early rehearsals were immensely productive, resulting in songs like "Golden Rhymes," "Your Mother!," and "Idiocy." A fortunate discovery of an affordable drum set further enhanced their musical capabilities.
The Name and the Journey to the Big Stage
During a power outage during rehearsal, the band brainstormed names and eventually chose "Destination." Their first significant public performance came at the "Tyumen Kuranty" festival, where they secured a spot under the name "Crossing."
Post-Performance Evaluation and the Pursuit of a Bassist
The band faced mixed reactions to their performance at "Tyumen Kuranty," with some critics labeling it as lackluster. Determined to improve, they replaced Pavlov on guitar with Obruch on bass.
The Arrival of Post-Punk and the Recording of "Perehod"
In the year 2000, the band began experimenting with different musical styles, including post-punk. The concept for their debut album, "PN Transition," emerged, and the title track "Transition" was composed. Several mini-performances, including one at the "33 Revolutions" club, marked this period of growth.
Record Release Plans and the Future of "Destination"
Despite setbacks and lineup changes, the band "Destination" perseveres. Plans for a debut album recording and a future concert are underway. Their journey continues, guided by their love of music and their unwavering determination.
