Biography of Kantan Fion Maye
Kantan Fion Maye is a French biathlete who achieved great success in his career. He became the world champion in the mixed relay event in 2016 and won a bronze medal in the men's relay event at the 2015 World Championships.
Early Career
Maye made his debut on the youth level in 2011 at the Junior World Championships in Nove Mesto na Morave. Although he didn't achieve remarkable results, he showed promise by finishing 11th in the pursuit race and winning a bronze medal in the relay event. In 2013, at the Junior World Championships, he finished fifth in the sprint, fourth in the pursuit, and won a silver medal in the relay alongside Clement Dumont, Mathe Legran, and Dani Chavotye. The same year, he also won a gold medal in the mixed relay event at the Junior European Championships with Anais Chevalier, Florian Parisse, and Mathe Legran.
Senior Career
Maye made his senior debut in the 2012/2013 season at the first leg of the IBU Cup in Idre, Sweden. He quickly made an impact by earning cup points and finishing fourth in the individual race in Beitostolen, Norway. In the following season, he made his debut in the World Cup at the event in Annecy, France. In just his second race, he earned his first World Cup points by finishing 37th in the pursuit. His best result of the season was a 14th place in the pursuit at the pre-Olympic event in Antholz, Italy. He ended the season ranked 51st overall in the World Cup standings with 101 points.
In the 2014/2015 season, Maye achieved his best personal result by finishing second in the mass start event in Ruhpolding, Germany. He narrowly missed out on victory, losing to Simon Schempp in a photo finish. At the 2015 World Championships in Kontiolahti, Finland, he won a bronze medal in the relay event, competing alongside Simon and Martin Fourcade, as well as Jean-Guillaume Beatrix.
