Early Life and Career

Quincy Promes, a Dutch footballer of Surinamese descent, was born on January 4, 1992, in Amsterdam. Inspired by his father's professional football career in Suriname, Promes pursued his passion for the sport from a young age. Despite challenges growing up in a rough neighborhood, football became his sanctuary, protecting him from potential dangers lurking outside.

Youth Days at Ajax

Promes began his football journey with RKCSV DIAS and De C'81 before joining the prestigious Ajax academy. However, his lack of discipline on and off the field led to his dismissal from the youth team, crushing his dreams of wearing the illustrious Ajax jersey.

Breakthrough at Twente

Undeterred, Promes found a new home at FC Twente in 2009 via FC Haarlem. He spent his early years playing for Twente's youth team before making his Eredivisie debut in April 2012 against AZ.

Loan to Go Ahead Eagles

To gain regular playing time, Promes was loaned out to Go Ahead Eagles in the Eerstedivisie. He quickly established himself as a key player, scoring his first goal for the club in August 2012. His impressive form earned him a recall to Twente in 2013.

Return to Twente

Back at Twente, Promes became a prolific goalscorer, netting 11 goals in 31 appearances during the 2013/14 season. His impressive performances in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers, where he scored seven goals in three matches, further enhanced his reputation.

Move to Spartak Moscow

In August 2014, Promes made a significant move to Spartak Moscow for a fee of €10 million. He quickly adapted to the Russian Premier League, showcasing his exceptional goalscoring abilities. In his debut season, he was named the league's best player of the month in November after netting two goals and providing an assist in a single match.

Star Power in Moscow

Promes continued to shine for Spartak in subsequent seasons, winning the Russian Premier League Golden Boot in the 2017/18 campaign. His impressive form earned him the title of the league's best player by goal and assist (gol+pas) in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, cementing his status as one of the most prolific attackers in Russia.

Dutch National Team

At the international level, Promes has represented the Netherlands, scoring goals in various qualifying matches. He made his debut in September 2014 and has become a regular member of the national team, earning over 50 caps.

Move to Sevilla

In August 2018, Promes joined Spanish club Sevilla for a reported fee of €21 million. He made 23 appearances and scored twice for the Spanish side before leaving in June 2019.

Return to Ajax

In June 2019, Promes made a sensational return to his boyhood club Ajax. He quickly became a key player, helping the team win the Eredivisie title in 2021 and 2022. He has also made an impact in the UEFA Champions League, scoring crucial goals and providing key assists.

Personal Life

Promes is married to Jamie and has three children: Alani, Alia, and Noachin. He is known for his love of Surinamese cuisine, particularly roti, bammi, and nasi goreng.
