Early Career

Granit Xhaka, a Swiss footballer of Albanian descent, began his youth career at FC Concordia and FC Basel. After two seasons with Basel's youth team, he joined the senior squad in 2010.

European Debut and Transfer to Borussia Mönchengladbach

Xhaka made his European debut in Basel's 2-0 victory over Hungarian side Debrecen in the Champions League qualifiers. In 2012, he signed a five-year contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Arsenal Transfer

On May 25, 2016, Xhaka joined English club Arsenal for a reported fee of around £30 million.

International Career

Xhaka debuted for the Swiss under-17 team in 2008 and was part of the team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria in 2009.
