Biography of Quinn Sullivan

Early Life and Musical Talent

Quinn Sullivan is an American musician, guitarist, and bluesman who is admired by Buddy Guy. Even seasoned musicians are amazed at how well he plays the blues, considering his young age. However, Quinn himself says that he doesn't solely dedicate his life to playing the guitar - he leads a typical life of an American teenager. He was born in 1999 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Quinn developed a love for music from an early age and had a deep understanding of it. His father recalls how Quinn used to adore going to concerts with him and would even climb onto the stage. Quinn's father, also a musician who played in a cover band for Grateful Dead, taught him his first guitar chords. He later mentioned that he had never seen anyone learn so quickly - Quinn just seemed to grasp everything effortlessly. By the age of five, Quinn had already mastered the guitar and even played his first blues. At six years old, this musical prodigy appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which brought him some recognition. However, what truly mattered was catching the attention of other musicians.

Collaboration with Buddy Guy and B.B. King

In 2007, Sullivan was invited by Buddy Guy, the legendary blues guitarist and singer, to perform at the Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford. This initial performance marked the beginning of Quinn's collaborations with Buddy Guy, and he also had the opportunity to play alongside B.B. King. Quinn had the chance to perform at renowned venues such as Beacon Theatre in New York City, Orpheum Theatre in Boston, and Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago. In 2009, Sullivan opened Buddy Guy's East Coast tour and performed at the Austin City Limits Festival. In 2011, he appeared as a guest on the popular show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" In 2008, Quinn recorded with Guy for his famous album "Skin Deep," which received a Grammy nomination. Sullivan's guitar solo can be heard in the song "Who's Gonna Fill Those Shoes." In 2009, he released his single "Summer of Love." In February 2011, Quinn Sullivan released his first solo album, "Cyclone."

Mentored by Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy often gives young musicians a chance to showcase their talents, but Quinn Sullivan became a special case - Guy took him under his wing, becoming his mentor. "Musicians like him are encountered once in a lifetime," said the legendary bluesman. In 2013, Quinn released his second album titled "Getting There." Interestingly, despite his growing fame, Quinn, who is still a teenager, is not fully accustomed to it. His father mentioned that he gets very shy when adults pay attention to him at concerts and rush to take pictures with him. Quinn also mentioned that he doesn't spend hours practicing like crazy - he only plays his guitar when he feels like it. Like all teenagers, he enjoys watching fun movies and spending time with his friends. Quinn performs well academically, and not long ago, he went through his first breakup.
