Rachel Miner - Biography
Rachel Miner is a renowned actress in film, theater, and television. From a young age, she aspired to be an actress and began working with acting coach Karen Lee Anthony at the age of eight. By the time she was nine, Miner had her own agent, and by the age of ten, she had already worked with Woody Allen, portraying the character of Alice in his film at the age of nine. She also landed the role of Michelle Bauer in the TV series "Guiding Light" when she was just ten years old. Initially intended as a minor character, Michelle eventually became a regular member of the cast. This role earned Miner three Young Artist Awards and an Emmy nomination. It was during her time on "Guiding Light" that she became a committed vegetarian.
Born into a showbiz family, Miner is the third generation of actors in her family. Her father, Peter Miner, was an Emmy-winning director and renowned acting and directing teacher. Her mother was a screenwriter and director of off-Broadway plays. Her grandfather, Worthington Miner, was a producer and director, and her grandmother, Francis Fuller, was an actress. Even her brother, Peter Miner Jr., pursued a career in showbiz, although he has since left the industry.
In addition to her successful television and film projects, Miner has also made appearances on stage. At the age of fourteen, she performed in Laura Cahill's play "The Way" at Naked Angels. Two years later, in 1996, she made her Broadway debut as Margo Frank in Wendy Kesselman's adaptation of "The Diary of Anne Frank," with Natalie Portman in the lead role and directed by James Lapine. During the production, Miner got hit by a car and broke her leg, temporarily replaced by an understudy.
Miner was the first to portray Rivkele in Donald Margulies' play "God of Vengeance" at the ACT Theatre in Seattle, directed by Gordon Edelstein. She also originated the role of Sandy in Rebecca Gilman's "Blue Surge" under the direction of Robert Falls at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. Later, Miner reprised the role at The Public Theater in New York City.
Some of Miner's notable television roles include Vicky in "Shining Time Station: 'Tis a Gift," an episodic character named Laurel in an episode of "Sex and the City," and Astrid in the show "NY-LON." In 2007, she appeared in the series "Californication" as the character Dani California, referencing the female persona in several songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It is also worth mentioning that in 2009, Miner played the demon Meg Masters in the fifth season premiere of the series "Supernatural."
On March 30, 1998, Miner announced her engagement to "Home Alone" star Macaulay Culkin. However, their marriage was short-lived, and they divorced in August 2000. Their marriage attracted significant media attention due to the couple's incredibly young ages at the time.
In recent years, Miner has managed to live and work on both coasts, alternating between New York City and Los Angeles. Since 2003, she has been an active member of the Church of Scientology, regularly donating money to the new Scientology and Dianetics center in New York City.
