Rachel Sigal, an 18-year-old native of Ashland, Oregon, was mentioned in one of the recent episodes of the show "The View" in a segment dedicated to teenage millionaires. Rachel, like other featured young talents, has managed to earn quite well from a rather unusual idea - selling bras that can be drawn on.
The Idea
At first glance, Rachel appears to be selling ordinary white cotton bras that are not particularly remarkable. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that the bras come with non-toxic and easily washable markers and stencils. Anyone who wishes can personalize their purchased bra according to their preferences and the current trend. As fashion changes almost daily in our fast-paced world, the drawings on the bra can be easily washed off. The basic set costs just $10 - or $9.99 to be precise - and is sold on the official invention website, DoodleBra.com. Rachel didn't limit herself to just bras; the website also offers a selection of stencil items, from shoes to handbags. However, the bras have been the most successful so far.
The Start
Rachel came up with the unusual idea back in 2008 on a typical summer day. While hanging out with friends at the beach, they began coloring Rachel's white bra with colored markers out of boredom. They didn't bother to find non-washable markers, resulting in her mother, Betty Ann, not being particularly fond of the creatively modified underwear. However, Rachel's father, Randy, saw great potential in this innocent teenage joke. Randy quickly connected with manufacturers in China and India and ordered the first batch of parts for their envisioned gift sets. Rachel, Randy, and Betty Ann assembled the kits themselves. So far, Rachel's million-dollar invention hasn't brought in significant profits, with approximately 1000 bras sold to date. However, the trade continues to be active, and it is entirely possible that Rachel will soon join the list of young millionaires. The invention does have its drawbacks; for example, it is strongly recommended not to wear the bra in the rain unless you want to stain your outerwear with paint.
Entrepreneurial Journey
Rachel has developed a taste for entrepreneurship. Despite her upcoming college plans, she has no intention of abandoning her own business. She is considering transitioning to less controversial products since not everyone sees selling bras as a worthy endeavor. Nevertheless, Rachel will have time to make that decision. It is known that she is currently interested in web design, and her future may lie in the vast expanse of the internet. Rachel also shows a great interest in sports, particularly equestrianism. Unfortunately, she quickly realized that she did not have a special talent for horseback riding and began searching for herself in more intellectual spheres. Further education in college will undoubtedly help Rachel Sigal to find herself definitively and determine the area in which she will pursue her future entrepreneurial endeavors.
