Radik Isaev: The Triumphant Azerbaijani Taekwondo Champion
Early Life and CareerBorn in 1989 in the village of Ukhul, Dagestan, Russia, Radik Isaev is a renowned Azerbaijani taekwondo athlete. As a Master of Sports in Russia, he began his career representing the Dagestan State Center for Martial Arts. In 2010, he became the Russian Champion and won the Russian Cups in 2010 and 2011.
International Success
In 2013, Isaev joined the Azerbaijani national team. His international breakthrough came at the 2013 World Championships in Puebla, where he claimed the bronze medal. In 2014, he reigned supreme at the European Championships held in Baku. He then secured a silver medal at the first Olympic weight category European Championships in Nalchik.
Olympic Glory
The pinnacle of Isaev's career was the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. On August 20, he triumphed in the men's +80 kg category, becoming an Olympic champion.
Post-Olympic Achievements
After his Olympic victory, Isaev continued to excel. He won the bronze medal at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei. He represented Azerbaijan at the 2018 World Championships, where he earned a bronze medal.

For his outstanding achievements, Isaev has received numerous awards. In 2015, he was honored with the Order of Glory in Azerbaijan. In 2016, he was awarded the Order of the Fatherland, First Class, for his Olympic success and contributions to Azerbaijani sports.
