Early Career

Simone Alessio, an Italian Taekwondo athlete, began competing internationally in 2014. In 2017, he achieved success by winning a gold medal in the 73 kg weight category at the European Junior Championships.

World and European Titles

In 2019, Alessio ascended to the top at the World Championships in Manchester, becoming the World Champion in the 74 kg weight category. He defeated Ahmad Abugaush of Jordan in the final. As part of the Italian team, he participated in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the 80 kg weight category, where he reached the quarterfinals.

Continued Success

In 2021, Alessio continued his winning streak, earning a bronze medal at the European Championships in the 80 kg weight category. The following year, he reclaimed the European Championship title in Manchester. In 2023, at the World Championships in Baku, Alessio once again proved his dominance, securing the title of World Champion for the second time in the 80 kg category. He defeated Carl Nicholas of the United States in the final match.
