Rafael González, a Chilean footballer, played as a defender throughout his career.
Club Career
González's professional debut came on December 6, 1969, for Colo-Colo in a 4-1 victory against Deportes Antofagasta. For the next eight seasons, he formed a formidable partnership with Leonel Herrera, considered one of the best defensive duos in Colo-Colo's history. During their time, they won two Chilean Primera División titles, the Copa Chile, and reached the final of the Copa Libertadores in 1973.
In 1977, González moved to Unión Española, where he promptly won another Chilean Primera División title. He retired from club football in 1981.
International Career
González made his international debut for Chile on January 26, 1972, in a 2-0 friendly loss to Mexico. He was part of the Chilean squad for the 1974 FIFA World Cup, but did not feature in any matches. He also played in the 1975 Copa América.
González's final appearance for Chile came on October 13, 1976, in a 2-0 friendly defeat to Argentina. In total, he earned 20 caps for his country.
