Early Life and Childhood

Razambek Salambkovich Zhamalov was born on June 1, 1998, in Petrakhovskoye, Dagestan, Russia. Growing up in Khasavyurt, young Razambek displayed an unwavering determination from an early age. Inspired by renowned wrestlers Adam Saitiev and Musa Saidulbatalov, he began training in freestyle wrestling under their guidance at the tender age of ten.

Freestyle Wrestling Career

Zhamalov made his debut as a wrestler in 2016, quickly amassing accolades at major tournaments. Representing Russia, he consistently emerged victorious in junior competitions and achieved podium finishes in senior events. In 2019, his triumph at both the European and World Junior Championships cemented his dominance. The following year, he claimed gold at the Russian National Championships and the World Cup.

Competing for Uzbekistan

In 2024, amidst fierce competition within the Russian team and the exclusion of Russia from the Paris Olympics, Zhamalov switched his sporting allegiance to Uzbekistan.
