Early Career and Breakthrough

Rebeca Andrade, a Brazilian gymnast, showcased her talent at a young age. In 2012, she made her international debut at the South American Junior Championships, securing the gold medal in both the team and individual all-around events. The following year, Andrade continued to shine at the Nadia Comăneci Invitational, claiming the gold medal in the junior all-around competition.

Junior Success

In 2014, Andrade kicked off her season at the WOGA Classic and dominated the competition, winning gold in all-around, vault, and uneven bars, while earning silver in team, balance beam, and floor exercise. She also excelled at the Junior Pan American Championships, helping Brazil win silver in the team event. Additionally, she secured silver medals in all-around and floor exercise and took home gold medals in vault, uneven bars, and balance beam.

Senior Competitions

Andrade's senior debut at the 2015 Ljubljana World Cup marked her first international medal, a bronze on uneven bars. She went on to earn a silver in vault at the São Paulo World Challenge Cup and placed seventh on uneven bars.

In 2016, Andrade participated in the Doha World Cup, winning a silver medal on uneven bars. Competing at the 2016 Olympic Games, she helped Brazil qualify for the team final, placing fifth, and individually placed third in all-around qualifications. However, during the team final, Andrade had a fall on floor exercise, resulting in Brazil's eighth-place finish. She finished eleventh in the individual all-around.

Pandemic Challenges and Return

The COVID-19 pandemic posed challenges for Andrade's training, forcing her and other Brazilian Olympic hopefuls to seek opportunities in Portugal. In 2020, Andrade tested positive for COVID-19 but experienced no symptoms.

Returning to competition at the 2021 Pan American Championships, Andrade contributed to Brazil's team gold and won the all-around title, securing her and Luciana Alvarado spots for the 2020 Olympic Games.

Olympic Success

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Andrade achieved remarkable success. She won the silver medal in the individual all-around, the first-ever Brazilian medal in the event. In the vault final, Andrade made history, becoming Brazil's first Olympic champion in gymnastics.
