After thorough examinations, tests, and analyses, doctors concluded that her ovaries were failing. She was later offered a surgery to have them removed, and she agreed. Rebecca later revealed that she understood that such an operation would permanently deprive her of the ability to conceive and give birth to her own children, but she had no choice as doctors assured her that her ovarian condition was quite dangerous.
On the designated day, Rebecca was brought into the operating room, and during the surgery, the doctors discovered a fully developed fetus in her womb. The baby was at 36 weeks, ready to be born. She went through three examinations, two blood tests, and six pregnancy tests while doctors were trying to determine the cause of her severe abdominal pain. The medical professionals assured Rebecca that this "blindness" was due to the rare position of the fetus in her womb, making it almost impossible to detect. According to the doctors, it was the position of the baby that caused the intense pain that led her to the hospital.
Now, looking back on the moment when the doctors woke her up in the operating room and informed her that instead of removing her ovaries, they would perform a caesarean section, Rebecca laughs. Regardless of the circumstances, it was the best news she could have received at that moment. Overall, Rebecca Oldham's case is incredibly rare. According to statistics, only one in 600 expectant mothers is unaware of their pregnancy, especially as time progresses. People often ask Rebecca how she could have not noticed her pregnancy, especially at such an advanced stage. In response, Rebecca simply states that she had no knowledge of her pregnancy and, as her doctors reassured her, she believed she was suffering from a serious ovarian condition.
A Healthy Baby and Hope for the Future
Today, Rebecca's son is over six months old and is growing up to be a healthy and strong baby. Rebecca herself is also in good health, as the abdominal pains ceased after giving birth, and her ovaries were deemed healthy after further tests and analyses. In the future, Rebecca hopes to have more children and she sincerely hopes that her next pregnancy will not come as such a huge surprise.
