Biography of Richard Ramirez
Richard Ramirez, a convicted American serial killer of Latin American descent, is currently awaiting execution on death row. He is also known as the "Night Stalker." Ramirez is responsible for the deaths of 14 individuals.
Influence of Childhood
In his youth, Ramirez regularly smoked marijuana. It appears that he was heavily influenced by his cousin, who returned from the Vietnam War and boasted about torturing and killing enemy soldiers. To prove his claims, the cousin showed young Ramirez polaroid pictures of mutilated war victims. Later on, the cousin shot and killed his wife in front of Ramirez, splattering blood on his face.
Music and Early Victims
Ramirez enjoyed listening to the music of AC/DC, particularly their album "Highway to Hell." His first victim was an elderly 79-year-old woman whom he mercilessly stabbed to death. Dressed in all black, Ramirez then shot three young individuals, but due to a fortunate circumstance where a bullet ricocheted off a set of keys in one victim's hand, one of the girls survived. This incident provided the police with the first verbal description of the killer.
Terror Campaign
The elusive serial killer subsequently initiated a terror campaign against the population of California. He would break into homes at night, robbing, raping, and killing. Some victims, however, were intentionally left alive. Ramirez also expressed his allegiance to Satanism by leaving pentagram drawings at crime scenes. In one instance, he drew a pentagram with lipstick on the inner thigh of an 83-year-old woman. Ramirez forced his victims to say, "I love Satan."
Diverse Victims
Unlike typical serial killers who target a specific type of victim, Ramirez attacked people from various backgrounds. His composite sketch was shown on television and published in newspapers. Therefore, it is not surprising that when a man attempted to steal a car, individuals immediately recognized him as the Night Stalker who had terrorized Los Angeles. An angry mob wanted to lynch him, but the arriving police had to use force to bring the suspect into custody.
Conviction and Death Sentence
In November 1989, Ramirez was sentenced to death by a court to be executed in a gas chamber. He currently awaits the execution of his sentence on death row.
