A Star Is Born: Richard Schroder's Early Career
Richard Schroder, an acclaimed American actor, made his cinematic debut in the 1979 box office hit "The Champ." At just nine years old, he garnered critical acclaim for his role as T.J. Flynn, earning him a Golden Globe Award for Best New Movie Actor of the Year.
From Child Star to Teen Idol
Schroder's success continued with roles in the 1980 Disney film "The Last Flight of Noah's Ark" and the breakout comedy series "Silver Spoons." As Ricky Stratton, he became a household name, endearing himself to young audiences.
Transition into Adulthood
As Schroder entered adulthood, he shed his child star image and adopted a more professional persona. He changed his stage name to "Rick" and chose roles that would challenge his abilities. Personal Life
On September 26, 1992, Schroder married Andrea Bernard, an interior designer who appeared in the second season of "Top Design." They have four children together: Holden, Luke, Cambrie, and Faith-Anne. Schroder has since reverted to his original stage name, "Ricky."
