Ričards Belte was born on January 21, 1949, in the modest village of Panemune, Bauka district, Latvia. Growing up in a farming family, Belte's early life was likely geprägt by rural values and traditions.
His path to the performing arts began at the age of 18 when he enrolled in Riga's 13th Vocational and Technical School. Later, Belte's desire for acting led him to the Riga Film Studio's Actor Training Program, where he honed his skills from 1972 to 1975.

Belte's professional acting career took flight at the Liepaja Theatre, where he spent an impressive 17 years from 1974 to 1991. During this period, he captivated audiences with his performances on stage.

In 1989, Belte's responsibilities at the Liepaja Theatre expanded significantly. He assumed the position of Director and Artistic Leader of the Liepaja Puppet Theatre, adding a new dimension to his career.
