Riley Gunn
American Man Wins the Lottery
Riley Gunn, a 34-year-old resident of Oregon, was not feeling lucky at all. Having been laid off from his job and unable to find another one, he felt like he was down on his luck. When he bought a lottery ticket for $16, he felt like he was taking money away from his family. However, a voice inside him told Riley, "Everything is right, everything is going as it should." He was laid off from his job back in May when he worked for a telecommunications company in Reno, Nevada. Later, it became too expensive for his family to stay in Reno, so they moved to Oregon to live with relatives.
A Fortunate Ticket
Riley bought the lucky ticket by chance, following that same inner voice, but he could never have dreamed of such luck. The $16 he spent on the ticket eventually brought him a million dollars. His 32-year-old wife, Misti, initially couldn't believe what had happened - she was literally frozen, staring into space. Only later did the realization sink in, followed by emotions. By the way, in order to travel 200 miles to the lottery venue, Riley had to borrow money from friends. They later revealed that the 10 minutes they spent in the parking lot before the opening were perhaps the longest minutes of their lives. But then everything was confirmed - Riley really turned out to be the owner of the lucky ticket that brought his family a million dollars.
A Token of Gratitude
The Gunn couple is convinced that the money was sent to them by the Lord himself, and they are determined to repay Him. In addition to regular church visits, they plan to donate 10% of their winnings to their church every month. Riley and Misti have already decided that they will first buy a house in Redding, California, and then purchase new cars - a "Grand Cherokee" for Misti and a "Rubicon" for Riley. The remaining money will be used to start a family business, which the Gunn couple intends to launch very soon.
"Now our lives will change," says Misti Gunn, barely holding back tears, "because living without money is very difficult."
