Biography of Rishat Abdullin
Rishat Abdullin was a Soviet and Kazakhstani singer, known for his lyrical tenor voice. He was born on March 14, 1916, in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Rishat had a twin brother, Muslim Abdullin, who was also a renowned singer.
After completing his studies at the Alma-Ata Musical Technical School from 1933 to 1935, Rishat joined the Kazakh Studio at the Moscow Conservatory in 1936. He successfully graduated from the studio in 1939.
From 1939 to 1965, Rishat was a soloist at the Kazakh Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay. During this time, he portrayed various lyrical characters in Kazakh, Russian, and Western European operas. Some of his notable roles include Tulegen, Kairakbay, Balpan, and Arystan in "Kyz-Zhybek," "Zhalbyr," "Er-Targyn," and "Aiman-Sholpan" by E.G. Brusilovsky, respectively. He also performed as Lensky in P.I. Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," Serik in M. Tulebayev's "Birzhan and Sara," Zilkar in E.G. Brusilovsky and M. Tulebayev's "Amangeldy," Tuyakbay in E. Rakhmadiyev's "Kamar Sulu," Azima in A. Zhubanov and L.A. Khamidi's "Abay," and many others.
In 1955, Rishat became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 1965, he became the artistic director of "Kazakhconcert," a prominent organization in Kazakhstan.
Rishat Abdullin also participated in the Decade of Kazakh Literature and Art in Moscow in 1936. Besides his operatic performances, he was known for his renditions of Kazakh folk songs and works by international composers.
