Early Life and Formation of BeForU

Riyu Kosaka was born on January 17, 1985, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. In 2000, she participated in an audition hosted by Konami and Toshiba-EMI to form the J-pop group BeForU. At just 15 years old, Kosaka was selected to join the group, which was produced by Naoki Maeda and primarily performed songs for the Bemani video game series.

BeForU Success

BeForU's debut single, "DIVE," became a hit after its inclusion in Dance Dance Revolution 5th mix. The group subsequently released several songs for DDR -max- 6th mix, including "Dive: More Deep and Deeper Style" and "Firefly." Kosaka also released her first solo single, "true...," with both a radio edit and a trance sunrise mix.

Solo Career and Collaborations

Despite BeForU's success, Kosaka also pursued a solo career. In 2004, she released her debut solo album, "Begin," featuring a mix of new songs and rearranged solo versions of BeForU tracks. The album was followed by a concert recording, "Riyu Kosaka First Live at O-EAST 2005."

Kosaka also collaborated with other artists, such as Ryo Horikawa, on the Pakedio Channel radio show. In 2007, she recorded the soundtrack for the film "Kamen Rider The Next: Platinum Smile."

Post-BeForU and Later Career

BeForU disbanded in 2007, but Kosaka continued to release music both as a soloist and with other groups. She has performed at numerous live events and has collaborated with a variety of musicians. In recent years, she has released several singles and albums, including "Blue Moon" (2015) and "Prism" (2019).
