Political Career

Alassane Ouattara, an Ivorian statesman and politician, has served as Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire since October 16, 2023. A civil engineer by profession, he also serves as a Protestant minister.

Education and Early Career

Ouattara graduated from the National Higher School of Public Works in Abidjan and the Paris Center for Advanced Building Studies. He further pursued his studies at the National School of Bridges and Roads and subsequently earned a business management degree from the Ivorian Center for Business Management.

Political Affiliations and Appointments

Ouattara's political career began with his affiliation with the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI), a former single-party that now represents the main opposition. He later joined the Rally of Republicans (RDR), a centrist and liberal political party in Côte d'Ivoire.

Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister, Ouattara held prominent positions such as Director of the Central Office for Technical Studies of Côte d'Ivoire and President of the country's Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) from 2005 to 2010. In April 2011, he was named Governor of Abidjan Autonomous District, where he oversaw significant transformations in Côte d'Ivoire's economic capital.

Parliamentary Experience

In 2018, Ouattara was elected as a member of the Parliament of Côte d'Ivoire. Five years later, on October 16, 2023, President Alassane Ouattara appointed him Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire as the representative of the coalition Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP).

Personal Life

Ouattara is a father of four children.
