Joseph Mallozzi Biography

Early Career

Joseph Mallozzi began his writing career in the film industry, starting with the movie "Wind Runners." He joined the crew of "PSI Factor - Chronicles of the Paranormal" as an editor and advanced to scriptwriter in 1996, where he worked until joining "Stargate SG-1" in 1997.

Stargate Franchise

Stargate SG-1

During his tenure on "Stargate SG-1," Mallozzi wrote 52 episodes and became an executive producer for the series in its fourth season. He also made a cameo appearance in the Season 5 episode "Wormhole X-Treme!"

Creation of Stargate Universe

Mallozzi was responsible for developing much of the backstory for "Stargate Universe." He created the Ancients, the race that built the Stargates. He also conceived the idea of an alliance of four races, although two of them were developed by other writers (the Nox by Hart Hanson and the Asgard by Catherine Powers).

Stargate Atlantis

In December 2003, Mallozzi and Brad Wright began working on the "Stargate SG-1" spin-off "Stargate Atlantis." He made his directorial debut on the Season 9 episode of "Stargate SG-1" titled "Crusade." In the Season 10 premiere episode "Flesh and Blood," Mallozzi's daughter Emma played four-year-old Adria. In another Season 10 episode, "Talion," his eldest daughter, Megan Elizabeth Mallozzi, made a brief appearance as a young Jaffa girl. After the end of "SG-1," Mallozzi wrote the screenplay for the direct-to-DVD movie "Stargate: The Ark of Truth."

Stargate Universe

Mallozzi and Brad Wright created another spin-off, "Stargate Universe," which premiered on October 2, 2009. After "Stargate Atlantis" ended, Mallozzi, along with Brad Wright, went on to create yet another spin-off, "Stargate Universe."
