Early Life and EducationRobert Francis "Bobcat" Goldthwait was born on May 26, 1962, in Syracuse, New York. Goldthwait's interest in comedy began at an early age, and he began performing professionally at the age of 15. He attended Bishop Grimes High School with future voice actor Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob SquarePants).
Together with Kenny and future political satirist Barry Crimmins, Goldthwait formed a comedy trio called "The Uncalled For Comedians." They performed under the pseudonyms "Bobcat, Panda, and Cat." By this time, Goldthwait had already co-written with Boston comedian Martin Olson and was credited as a writer on the comedy albums "Share the Warmth" and "Don't Watch This Show."
Rise to Fame
Goldthwait gained recognition as a comedian in the early 1980s. After a series of successful shows, he launched his own projects, including "An Evening with Bobcat Goldthwait — Share the Warmth" and "Bob Goldthwait — Is He Like That All the Time?" His unique style, which blended political satire and dark humor, set him apart from his peers.
Goldthwait briefly performed with Robin Williams under the pseudonyms "Jack Cheese" and "Marty Fromage." He would later reprise this pseudonym in the film "Tapeheads." Williams, in turn, would appear as Marty Fromage in Goldthwait's film "Shakes the Clown."
Personal Life
In 1986, Goldthwait married Anne Lally. They had two children, Tasha and Tyler. The couple divorced in May 1998. Goldthwait met his second wife, Nikki Cox, in July of the same year while they were both on the cast of "Unhappily Ever After." They became engaged in June 1999, but the couple split in January 2005 without marrying.
