Early Life and Career
Birthplace and First Steps:Giuseppe Bergomi was born in the eastern suburb of Milan, Settala, on December 16, 1963. It was there that he took his first steps in football, playing for the local club Sestalese.
Joining Inter Milan:
In 1979, at the tender age of 17 years and two months, Bergomi joined Inter Milan. He made his debut for the Nerazzurri, becoming the youngest player to ever represent the club.
Inter Milan and Italy Career
Long and Illustrious History:Bergomi spent two decades with Inter Milan, from 1979 to 1999. Over that time, he amassed an impressive record of 758 appearances (519 in Serie A) and scored 28 goals.
International Honours:
Bergomi made 81 appearances for the Italian national team, scoring six goals. He captained the Azzurri on 33 occasions, including at the 1982 World Cup where Italy emerged victorious.
World Cup Participation:
Bergomi participated in four World Cups: 1982, 1986, 1990, and 1998. However, he missed the 1994 World Cup after being omitted from the squad by then-coach Arrigo Sacchi.
