Rodolfo González is a Venezuelan racing driver who has competed in various prestigious racing series throughout his career.
Karting and Formula Renault 2.0
González's racing journey began with karting, where he participated until 2002. From 2003 to 2005, he showcased his talent in the Formula Renault 2.0 National Class.
Triumph in British Formula 3
In 2006, González made a significant mark in the British Formula 3 National Class, accumulating an impressive 355 points to claim the coveted championship title.
International Challenges
Building on his success, González ventured into the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series in 2007. His international pursuits continued in 2008 when he participated in the Italian round of the Formula 3 Euro Series and the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3. He also competed in the full Formula 3 EuroSeries season, securing a respectable 24th place finish.
GP2 and Asian GP2 Series
González's racing career took another turn in 2008/09 when he joined the GP2 Asia Series, participating in eight races. In 2009, he raced in two GP2 Series events with Trident Racing and 13 out of 15 races in the Formula 3 Euro Series, where he amassed 44 points and finished fifth.
Formula 1 Reserve Driver
In 2011, González became the reserve driver for the Lotus Renault GP Formula 1 team. He also competed in Auto GP (two races), Asian GP2 Series (four races), and the full GP2 European Series.
Further Formula 1 Involvement
2012 saw González assume the reserve driver role for both Caterham F1 Team and Force India. He participated in the GP2 Series season with Caterham and finished 22nd overall. He also made an impressive third-place finish with team Heico Motorsport in the 24 Hours of Dubai.
In 2013, González served as a test driver for the Marussia Formula 1 team.
Endurance Racing
González expanded his horizons to endurance racing, participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 with Murphy Prototypes. Although his team did not complete the race, he also competed in three rounds of the European Le Mans Series LMP2 class, earning 20 points.
IndyCar Series
In 2015, González made his mark in the Verizon IndyCar Series, racing in six events.
