Biography of Ronald Arnold

Ronald Arnold was an American businessman and diplomat who was born on March 29, 1939. He was known for his ownership of the company "ACC Capital Holdings," but his immense wealth came from his other enterprise, Ameriquest Mortgage. Arnold was also a co-founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. In 2006, he assumed the position of Ambassador of the United States to the Netherlands.

Early Life and Career

Ronald Arnold was born in Paris to Jewish parents, who had to immigrate to France during World War II. He was raised in a small French village in the Catholic faith. Arnold's parents carefully concealed their origins until the end of the war. In the 1950s, the Arnold family moved to Montreal, Canada, and later decided to settle in the United States for a more comfortable life. Unfortunately, it was a challenging time for Ronald Arnold, as he had to trade flowers on the streets to earn a living.

Accomplishments

In 1977, Ronald Arnold founded the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an organization dedicated to addressing human rights violations. He served on the Board of Trustees of the California State University for 16 years. Arnold owned a mansion in Los Angeles, previously owned by singer Engelbert Humperdinck, as well as a ranch in Aspen, which he purchased from film mogul Peter Guber for an estimated $46 million.

Personal Life

Ronald Arnold and his wife Dawn were generous sponsors of political parties. They have two children together, Daniela and Michelle. However, Arnold was not the most faithful family man, as he had several children from his previous wife, who continuously attempted to challenge their rightful inheritance. Despite multiple lawsuits, the case remained unresolved.

Diplomatic Career and Passing

In August 2005, President George W. Bush nominated Ronald Arnold for the position of Ambassador of the United States to the Netherlands. It was not until February 9, 2006, that the Senate confirmed his appointment. Due to poor health, Arnold retired from his position on February 21, 2008. Sadly, in March 2008, Ronald Arnold passed away from cancer at the UCLA Medical Center, just 12 days shy of his 69th birthday. According to official sources, his net worth was estimated at $1.5 billion at the beginning of 2008.
