Early Life and EducationRomaine Duris was born on May 28, 1974, in Paris, to an architect father. His sister, Caroline, pursued music and became a pianist, even composing the main soundtrack for Romaine's 2005 film "De battre mon coeur s'est arrêté." Duris studied art in university before he was scouted by a casting agent on the street in 1994.
Breakthrough Role
Duris made his film debut in Cédric Klapisch's "Chacun cherche son chat" (1994). His breakthrough performances came in "L'Auberge espagnole" (2002) and "Les Poupées russes" (2005), which propelled him to stardom.
Musical Background
Prior to his acting career, Duris was passionate about music, playing drums in the acid-jazz band "Kingsize."
Personal Life
Duris resides in Paris with his partner, actress Olivia Bonamy. They welcomed a son, Luigi, on March 10, 2009.

Duris was discovered during an open casting.
