Biography of Roman Horak
Early Life and CareerRoman Horak is a Czech ice hockey player and forward for the KHL club "Vityaz". He was born on May 21, 1991, in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. His father, also named Roman Horak, was a professional hockey player as well. Horak began his professional career in his hometown, playing for the local club "Ceske Budejovice" in the top Czech league.
Move to the NHL
In the 2009 NHL Draft, Roman Horak was selected by the New York Rangers. He joined the Western Hockey League team "Chilliwack Bruins" for the 2009/10 season. However, on May 6, 2011, he signed a contract with the Rangers. Despite not playing a single game for the team, he was traded to the Calgary Flames on June 1 in exchange for defenseman Tim Erixon.
NHL Debut and Transfer to the Edmonton Oilers
Horak made his NHL debut on October 8, 2011, in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He recorded an assist and earned his first point in the national league. On November 8, 2013, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers.
Current Career with Vityaz
On May 12, 2014, Roman Horak signed a contract with the KHL club "Vityaz". He has been playing as a forward for the team ever since.
