Early Life and Education
Roman Mashovets was born into a military family and attended the Kyiv Military Lyceum in 1993. He went on to graduate from the Military-Diplomatic Academy, specializing in international relations.
Military Career
Mashovets embarked on a distinguished military career, serving as a Marine special forces diver. He was part of the Special Forces Unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He also participated in peacekeeping missions in Sierra Leone and Iraq.
Role in the Ukrainian Conflict
From July 2014, Mashovets played a crucial role in organizing military-technical assistance for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine and co-authored the Law on the Creation of Special Operations Forces.
During the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Mashovets made 25 trips to the combat zone. He gained invaluable experience and insights into the challenges facing Ukrainian troops.
