Ukrainian Euromaidan Activist

Serhiy Varnytsia, a Ukrainian activist, played a pivotal role in the Euromaidan protests. Born in Novoyaovorivsk, he excelled academically, graduating from high school with honors.

Euromaidan Participation

Driven by a strong sense of patriotism, Varnytsia joined the Euromaidan demonstrations without informing his parents. He concealed his departure from Novoyaovorivsk, claiming to be working in Lviv. Along with his friend Vasyl, he traveled to Kyiv.

Tragic Fate

On February 20, 2014, tragedy struck. At approximately 10:30 AM, Varnytsia was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant on Instytutska Street in central Kyiv. His life was cut short in the midst of the struggle for democratic ideals.

Recognition and Honor

In recognition of his sacrifice, Varnytsia was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine by President Petro Poroshenko on November 21, 2014. The award included the Order of the Golden Star. This honor signifies Varnytsia's unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy, human rights, and selfless service to his country during the Revolution of Dignity.
