Romuald Koperski is a Polish pianist who gained international recognition for his incredible achievement in 2010. He set a world record for the Longest Piano Concert, playing continuously for 101 hours, 8 minutes, and 3 seconds. Aiming for a new record

Romuald Koperski embarked on this musical journey with the sole purpose of breaking the existing world record. To meet the requirements set by the Guinness World Records, Koperski had to adhere to specific conditions. He had to play without interruption, perform in a public place, include popular classical pieces, movie soundtracks, and light jazz in his repertoire, and refrain from improvisation. Each composition could not be repeated more than once every four hours. The breaks between the pieces were limited to half a minute, with a 5-minute break allowed once per hour.

Preparing for the challenge

Koperski was no stranger to these rules, as he had previously set a world record in 2004 for the longest piano performance. He managed to accumulate five-minute breaks to have some time for light meals and refreshments. However, the most challenging aspect for Koperski was the lack of sleep, which he admitted was the most difficult thing to overcome.

A multifaceted talent

Outside of his piano-playing endeavors, Romuald Koperski is known for his adventurous spirit. He has participated in several notable expeditions, earning him the title of a "tourism record holder." In 1998, he completed a solo journey of 4,500 kilometers along the Lena River. Additionally, he organized and participated in an automobile expedition from Zurich to New York three times in 1994.

An unforgettable achievement

Romuald Koperski's name became widely recognized due to his remarkable piano record. His official playing time of 101 hours, 8 minutes, and 3 seconds stands as the Longest Piano Concert ever recorded, solidifying his status as a Guinness World Record holder.
