Biography of Ron Artest
Early Life and EducationRon Artest is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the National Basketball Association (NBA) team, the Sacramento Kings. He was born and raised in the Queensbridge neighborhood of Queens, New York. Artest played basketball for La Salle Academy in high school and continued his career at St. John's University in New York.
NBA Career
In 1999, Artest was selected 16th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Draft. He was later traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2002, where he gained a reputation as one of the best defenders in the league. In the 2003/2004 season, Artest was officially recognized as the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year.
