Valentine's Day Delights for a Lifetime

American Ron has been a devoted husband, gifting his wife Donna the same candy for Valentine's Day for nearly four decades.

A Tradition Born from Love

In 1979, Ron inquired about his beloved's chocolate preference for Valentine's Day. Donna's heart skipped a beat when she mentioned the dark chocolate creams sold at Buffett's Candies. Little did they know, this exchange would ignite a Valentine's Day tradition like no other.

The Annual Candy Pilgrimage

Year after year, Ron has made his way to Donna's favorite shop to purchase "the same chocolates." The staff at Buffett's Candies has promised to keep Donna's beloved treats in stock, as long as Ron brings the same box back each Valentine's Day. And the devoted husband has never failed to deliver.

A Tradition with a Deeper Meaning

In recent years, the couple's tradition has taken on a more profound meaning. In 2014, Donna was diagnosed with dementia. The following year, Ron had to make the difficult decision to move the love of his life into a nursing home. "She couldn't write, she couldn't talk, she couldn't walk to the bathroom," Ron recalled. "She couldn't do anything for herself. August of 2015 is when we had to make a decision about the nursing home. That was probably the saddest day of my life."

Cherishing Every Moment

Ron's message to all is a poignant reminder to cherish every moment with our loved ones. "She forgets everything, she forgets who I am," Ron said. "So, value every minute you have, while the memory is still there."

A Heartfelt Appreciation

Donna, for her part, knows she is a lucky lady. "I know I've got a good thing," she said. "So, I better hang on to him. He's my keeper. I married him all those years ago, and I love him as much today as I ever have."
