Biography of Ronnie Dunn
Ronald Gene "Ronnie" Dunn was born on June 1, 1953, in Coleman, Texas, USA. From the start, music was deeply ingrained in his DNA, and he grew up in a tumultuous family where extremes were the norm. His father was a truck driver and honky-tonk singer, while his mother, with a turbulent past, later became known as a devout churchgoer.

Early Musical Beginnings
While attending school in Arkansas, Ronnie spent hours learning melodies on the saxophone, inspired by the virtuoso saxophonist Ace Cannon. Reflecting on this time, he recalled, "My father never told me he loved me, but he brought me these records." In his first twelve years of education, Dunn attended thirteen different schools. Shy and searching for his place in the world, Ronnie initially planned to dedicate himself to preaching. He enrolled in a Bible college and later transferred to Abilene Christian University, known for its exceptional music program.

Turning Point
However, when Ronnie began playing guitar and singing with a band in clubs, the university gave him an ultimatum: leave the band or leave the Christian university. Ronnie chose to drop out and relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he had the opportunity to make a name for himself in the country music scene. Dunn embarked on his solo music career, and his slightly successful singles "It's Written All Over Your Face" and "She Put the Sad in All His Songs" charted.
Brooks & Dunn
In 1991, Dunn teamed up with Kix Brooks to form the American country duo "Brooks & Dunn." Their debut album, "Brand New Man," was released the same year. The duo went on to release eleven albums and two greatest hits compilations. Together, Brooks & Dunn won numerous awards from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, surpassing any other duo in country music history. They sold over 30 million copies of their releases, making them one of the most successful touring duos.
Later Career
During his career, Ronnie collaborated with other artists, co-writing the single "Darned If I Don't (Danged If I Do)" for the country group Shenandoah. He also achieved chart success with Ashley Monroe with the single "I Don't Want To" in 2006 and a cover of the 1994 song "Take These Chains from My Heart" with Lee Roy Parnell. Dunn earned 20 awards from Broadcast Music Incorporated and was named "Country Songwriter of the Year" by Billboard magazine in 1996. He was also inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Hall of Fame.
Personal Life
Ronnie Dunn was married for 17 years to a woman named Janine, and the couple had three children: daughters Whitney and Haley, and son Jesse.
