Biography of Ronnie Cox

Ronnie Cox is an American actor, singer-songwriter, and guitarist. He was born in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, the third of five children, to Lounett Cox (née Raker) and Bob P. Cox, a carpenter and farmer. He grew up in Portales, New Mexico.

On September 10, 1960, Cox married Mary Cox. She passed away in 2006, and they had two children together.

Acting Career

As an actor, Cox is perhaps best known for his debut performance as Drew Ballinger in the 1972 film Deliverance. He also appeared as Lieutenant/Captain/Chief of Police Andrew Bogomil in the Beverly Hills Cop films, Richard "Dick" Jones in the film RoboCop, Vilos Cohaagen in Total Recall, and Senator/Vice President Robert Kinsey in the television series Stargate SG-1. In 1997, Cox played the fictional President of the United States, Jack Neil, in the film Murder at 1600. Cox also portrayed John Ramsey in the 2000 film The Perfect Murder, Perfect Town.

One of Cox's most memorable roles is that of Dr. John Gideon in the final season of the drama series St. Elsewhere. He also made an appearance in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation in the role of Captain Edward Jellico. He played Henry Mason, the father of Bree Van de Kamp (played by Marcia Cross), in the television series Desperate Housewives.

Music Career

In addition to acting, Cox also has a career as a singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has played the role of Captain America in the show Captain America. He also portrays a specific role in the series The Starter Wife, playing Pappy McCallister, the husband of Molly Kagan's (played by Debra Messing) best friend, Joan.
